StartDeck Platform Updates

From time to time StartDeck will depreciate a feature in favor of a better user experience offered by a new or different feature. When a platform feature changes, instructions can be found here on how to migrate your templates and/or reports to stay current with the platform.

Map Enhancement #

Significant improvements made to maps. New features include four map types and the ability to place mapping input tables anywhere on any sheet.

 

Maps Migration Task

Convert older templates and files to work with StartDeck's new mapping features

For each template or project:

  1. Open StartDeck Tables and click on Utilities
  2. Under Template Migration Tools, click Convert Old Maps. Map sheets will be replaced with Map tables on a new worksheet and old map sheets will be renamed *OldMapName, which can be deleted at your choice.
     

Sheet Merge Fields Enhancement

Our original sheet merge field methodology was based on range names. We found severe limitations with sheet merge fields that required sheet-level range names. Our new methodology is very different and uses cell notes to create sheet merge fields. 
 

Sheet Merge Fields Migration Task

For each template or project:

  1. Open StartDeck Tables sidebar and click on Utilities
  2. Under Template Migration Tools, click Convert s_fields to cell notes. StartDeck will add a cell note for each range name.  For example cell with a range name of ‘sEffectiveDate’ will have a cell note ‘sEffectiveDate’ added. Any existing cell note text will be retain and displayed after the s_field name.
     

Doc Merge Field Changes

From time to time StartDeck will change the syntax or content settings of a doc merge field. We do this to change lists, default settings, add enhancements and correct errors. 
 

Doc Merge Field Update Task

The ‘Reset Fields’ function is StartDeck Writer will automatically detect field syntax that should be updated.

Reset Fields will update field syntax and more
  1. Open StartDeck Writer sidebar and click  Fields & Data
  2. Click Edit Fields
  3. Click Reset Fields
